The Eastern Hemisphere contains Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. The Western Hemisphere contains North and South America. A small portion of Asia is in this Hemisphere.
The Northern Hemisphere is that half of the Earth which is north of the Equator. The North Pole is its center. It contains North America, Europe, Asia, the greater part of Africa, and the northern part of South America. The Southern Hemisphere is that half of the Earth which is south of the Equator. The South Pole is its center. It contains the greater part of South America, the southern part of Africa, and the whole of Australia.
The Land Hemisphere contains all the continents except Australia, Antarctica, and the southern part of South America. Europe is in its center. The Water Hemisphere contains Australia, Antarctica, and the southern part of South America. New Zealand is its center.
The longest straight line that can he drawn on the land surface of the Earth is from the western part of Africa to the northeastern part of Asia, about 11,000 miles. The highest Mountains and plateaus are in Asia and South America.
